Soul, Funk, Rock & Blues

Hopefully, you've come here because you've booked the band, or because you're thinking about booking the band. Welcome to the website, I hope you'll find this page helpful and informative.

What is the Groove Organic?

We're a three piece band consisting of Hammond/Vocals - Bass and Drums.  Really - we don't have a lead guitarist. So let's get the obvious question out of the way first:

Why don't we have a lead guitarist?

Because pretty much every other band you book has one already.

Three piece bands are practical for venues because they cost less to run and take up less space - and they are easier to organise because I only have two other musicians to deal with which means when you book us, we are organised and reliable.

Having a lead hammond organ player gives us a more varied range of songs that we can call on to please different audiences, plus I believe that I can do anything a guitarist does and more on the organ. Also, it allows us to have guest guitarists sit in from time to time (check out the Fox all star Christmas gig on the video page) which is great fun (and done at our expense, not yours).

What do we play?

We play a very wide range of songs. Here's a list of songs that have appeared in the set over the last year:

Hush (Deep Purple) - I'm a Man (Spenser Davis) - We can work it out (Beatles) - All Along the Watchtower (Hendrix) - Whiter Shade of Pale (Procol Harem) - Unchain My Heart (Ray Charles) - Little Wing (Hendrix) - Midnight Hour (Wilson Pickett) - Walk A Mile In My Shoes (Joe South) - Going Down (Jeff Beck) - I take What I want (Sam & Dave) - Fire (Hendrix) - I Don't need No Doctor (Ray Charles) - Higher Ground (Stevie Wonder) - Rather Go Blind (Etta James) - Green Onions (Booker T) - Refugee (Tom Petty) - I wish (Stevie Wonder) - Pump It Up (Elvis Costello) - Somebody to Love (Queen) - Knock On Wood (Eddie Floyd) - In a Broken Dream (Rod Stewart) - Gimmie Some Lovin' (Spenser Davis) - Purple Rain (Prince) - Lucille (Little Richard) - Don't Get Around Much Anymore (Duke Ellington) - Will it Go Around In Circles (Billy Preston) - Tin Soldier (The Faces) - Light My Fire (Doors) - Taxman (Beatles) - Ain't No Love In the Heart of the City (Bobby Bland) - Ain't No Sunshine (Bill Withers) - Locomotive Breath (Jethro Tull) - Gotta Give More Power to the People (Chi Lites) - Hard To Handle (Otis Redding) - Hold On I'm Coming (Sam & Dave) - Can I get a Witness (Marvin Gaye) - House of the Rising Sun (Animals) - Use Me (Bill Withers) - Respect Yourself (Staple Singers) Breaking up Somebody's home (Albert King)

Do we play Original Music or only Covers?

We do play original music, but only in the right environment (which generally isn't Friday night in a pub). At pub gigs, it's generally covers only.

How do we advertise gigs?

Like most bands, Facebook is the primary route. We will create posts throughout the week leading up to gigs, usually with video clips. As we refresh what's available (and we video as many gigs as we can) we hope to keep the page here and the facebook offer fairly fresh without just constantly shoving out repeat posts. We also use the news page here to help, all of which can be shared via your own social media.

How much will it cost

Prices start at £200 for local work in East Anglia.

Kind Regards
